49ers Super Bowl Manicure

Hi there!

This is the manicure I'm wearing for the Super Bowl today...

My San Francisco 49ers nails. NFL Super Bowl manicure.
China Glaze - Passion and Red Pearl water marble.

I painted 1 coat of Passion as a base before water marbling with Passion and Red Pearl.

It seems 49ers manicures are in demand. This is what I saw when I opened up my blog's search results page this morning...

49ers statistics.

It should be no surprise by now that I'll be cheering for the 49ers when they play later on today. We're hosting a big Super Bowl party with lots of good food and even better friends. I hope that no matter who you're rooting for... or even if American football isn't your cup of tea, you have yourself a great day.

49ers Decal Manicure

Hi there!

This is the next idea I have for a 49ers manicure...

My San Francisco 49ers nails. NFL Super Bowl manicure.
China Glaze - Red Pearl, OPI, Suzi Loves Cowboys,
and Essie - Good As Gold.

I painted 2 coats of each polish to achieve what's pictured. With one of my striper polishes, I painted white lines onto my index finger to portray a football. On my ring finger, I simply placed a 49ers sticker.

I'll be posting one more San Francisco 49ers manicure tomorrow morning. Click here to see what I've done so far.

49ers Striped Manicure

Hi there!

This wasn't my original idea, but I didn't want it to go to waste...

My San Francisco 49ers nails. NFL manicure.
China Glaze Drive In and Passion.

I painted 2 coats of Drive In, 1 stripe of Passion, and 1 stripe of a white striper polish to achieve what's pictured. I intended on doing some stripes with striper tape for this manicure, but the hand cream I forgot I applied earlier in the evening made it so Drive In didn't adhere fully to my nails. When I pulled the tape to readjust it, up came the red polish.

If I had this manicure to do over again, I'd choose colors with the same finishes. Foil, metallic, and cream polishes don't go so wonderfully together :-p

Are you planning on painting a Super Bowl manicure?

I will be posting more San Francisco 49ers manicure ideas over the next couple of days. Click here to see what I've done so far.

49ers French Manicure

Hi there!

These are the Niners nails I thought I would wear today...

My San Francisco 49ers nails. NFL manicure.
Essie - Good As Gold and China Glaze - Ruby Pumps.

I painted 1 coat of Good As Gold and then painted a stripe of Ruby Pumps.

During the wee hours of this morning, insomnia took the best of me...

My San Francisco 49ers nails. NFL manicure.
Essie - Good As Gold and China Glaze - Ruby Pumps.

I don't think my addition of the nail art pen "49ers" made my manicure look terrible, but I'm not fond of the font. I also don't like that the pen got stuck in a ridge on my pinky nail and I slopped up my "s."

An important note... as soon as possible, use top coat over the nail art pen! I went to put some things away and then realized I no longer had numbers or letters written on my nails. Instead, there were black smudges all over my fingers.

I will be posting more San Francisco 49ers manicure ideas later this week. Click here to see what I've done so far.

49ers Fishtail Braid Manicure

Hi there!

I'm really enjoying this manicure...

My San Francisco 49ers nails. NFL fishtail braid manicure.
Julep - Sienna, Glenn, and Johnny.

I painted 1 coat of Sienna to start... then I painted a stripe of Glenn, a stripe of Johnny, a stripe of Sienna, etc. until I was satisfied with the amount of stripes on my nails. I topped this manicure with a coat of Seche Vite.

Have you worn a fishtail braid manicure before? What colors did you use?

I will be posting more San Francisco 49ers manicure ideas over the next week. Click here to see what I've done so far.

49ers Splatter Manicure

Hi there!

I'm back just in time for the Super Bowl. And guess what!? The San Francisco 49ers made it!

My San Francisco 49ers nails. NFL splatter manicure.

I painted 2 coats of OPI's Danke-Shiny Red before splattering with Essie's Good As Gold and Wet n Wild's Ebony Hates Chris. I topped it with a coat of Seche Vite.

Splatter manicures can definitely be interesting. Look at what the gold did...

My San Francisco 49ers nails. NFL splatter manicure.

It completely missed my nail! ... But I think it looks neat :-)

Here's what my right hand looked like (sorry for the cell phone picture)...

My San Francisco 49ers nails. NFL splatter manicure.

I painted this manicure back in October when we went to see the Niners play at Candlestick Park. It was so much fun. We had the best seats anyone could ever wish for, and the 49ers won!

Nicole by OPI - It Starts With Me

Hi there!

I've had this polish in my collection since it was released, but this is my first time wearing it as a full manicure...

My nails painted with Nicole by OPI - It Starts With Me.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. I really like it- both the formula and the rose gold color!

Under natural light...

Orly's Rage has been on my wishlist for quite some time now. But now that I look at swatches of it next to swatches of It Starts With Me, I'm not sure I need it. Do you happen to own both? How do they compare to one another?

49ers Crackle

Hi there!

I'm a member of a very superstitious household. It wasn't extreme until recently when Hunny Poo realized that every time I paint my nails with San Francisco 49ers colors, they win. When I don't, they lose/tie. This has held true all season! After I removed my nearly 2 week old manicure on Sunday, I was begged to paint Niners nails. I told him that if he chose the polish, I'd do it :-)

My nails painted with Zoya - Kimmy and China Glaze - Tarnished Gold.
San Francisco 49ers manicure.

I think he chose a nice combination. I painted 2 coats of Kimmy before adding a thin coat of Tarnished Gold. Once dry, I added a coat of OPI's top coat.

Mission: accomplished. The Niners won!

Until next time...

San Francisco 49ers

Hi there!

Hunny poo's absolute favorite football team is the San Francisco 49ers...

My San Francisco 49ers nails. NFL manicure.

... so it's nice when there's a way for us to share an interest. I painted 2 coats of the red polish and then dotted on gold dots. Once the gold was dry, I randomly placed black and red dots into the middle of each gold dot. I topped it all with a coat of Seche Vite.

Here's a better look at the detail, though the lighting isn't great...

What colors would your nails be if they were painted in support of your favorite team?

February Julep Maven - It Girl

Hi there!

I received my Maven box this afternoon and I couldn't decided which to play with first...

Julep - Rachel, Oscar, and Elizabeth.

So I played with all of them...

My nails painted with Julep - Rachel.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. Rachel applied very smoothly, and I could have gotten away with just 1 thicker coat for opacity.

Rachel with Oscar...

My nails painted with Julep - Rachel and Oscar.

I painted just 1 coat of Oscar over Rachel. I don't typically enjoy glitter polish because of the common hassle when it comes to removal. This glitter, however, wiped off just like a normal polish would. I recommend it based on that!

My camera really dislikes dark polishes on my nails, so please forgive the orange fingers it gave me. Elizabeth is true to color...

My nails painted with Julep - Elizabeth.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. Elizabeth is described as a midnight blue- but left with just 1 coat, it can look dark purple.

Elizabeth with Oscar...

My nails painted with Julep - Elizabeth and Oscar.

I painted 1 coat of Oscar over Elizabeth, and I'm really enjoying this combination!

The last thing that came with my Maven box was this incredibly phallic piece of Oscar chocolate...

... it was delicious :-)

Did you receive a Maven box this month? If so, which one? If you don't have a Maven subscription, and you'd like to join... you can sign up here.

Kardashian Kolors

Hi there!

I noticed the Kardashian Kolors nail polishes last week, but I got side-tracked and forgot about them until today. The display was still fully stocked, so I picked up 4 colors... err, kolors...

Kardashian Kolors. Nicole by OPI - Disco Dolls, Wear Something
Spar-Kylie, Kendall On The Katwalk, and Follow Me On Glitter.

I painted 2 coats of each polish to achieve what's pictured.

  • Disco Dolls is a light gold base with green, pink, blue, and silver hexagonal glitter.
  • Wear Something Spar-Kylie is a pink base with pink glitter.
  • Kendall On The Katwalk is a blue base with blue, green, and purple glitter.
  • Follow Me On Glitter is a black base with silver, pink, and blue hexagonal glitter.

Do you have any of the colors from this collection? Which would you most recommend?

Until next time...

San Francisco 49ers Water Marble

Hi there!

Welp, football season is baaaaack! While I don't particularly care for the sport, I love the parties that come with it :-) My hunny poo likes that I support his love of the game with my nail art...

Red, gold, and black San Francisco 49ers water marble.
China Glaze - Red Pearl, China Glaze - Passion,
and Sinful Colors - Black on Black.

I painted 1 coat of Passion for the base. Then I marbled with Red Pearl, Passion, and Black on Black. I topped it all with a coat of Seche Vite.

Are you sporting a football inspired manicure?

Graffiti Lace in Lincoln Park

Hi there!

I wanted to use some of my metallics, so I chose 3 to stamp over yesterday's manicure...

My nails painted with OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark Suede.
Stamped with Konad image plate M70.

I used...

From left to right: OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark Suede,
China Glaze - Passion, Sally Hansen - Ruby Chrome,
Nicole by OPI - Positive Energy, Seche Vite, double sided
stamper, scraper, and Konad plate M70.

All of the polishes are fairly new except Ruby Chrome. It's suuuper old, so I'm not sure you'll be able to find it in a store. Each of the colors I stamped with were very easy to work with, but I think any brand of metallic gold, pink, or silver would work for stamping this image.

Until next time...

Hi there!

I love, love, love stamping my nails from image plates. Bundle Monster is having a contest on facebook where the winner will receive a set of their new image plates *drools*.

I hate to be a spammer for votes, but I'm going to do it anyway. Don't just vote for me... vote for everyone you think deserves to win. My link is HERE

The vote is public and it lasts until April 20. ... This would be the perrrfect Birthday present for me *April 25* :-) You can vote for each entry once per day.

I entered a picture of the nails I wore to my cousin's wedding...

My nails stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM10.

They were inspired by the fantastic shoes I wore...

Rising Rose-alita 2010

Hi there!

I received a pretty, pretty in today's mail and I couldn't wait to use it. It's Nubar's 2010 :-) I put it over yesterday's manicure of OPI's SeƱorita Rose-alita and Rising Star.

My nails painted with SeƱorita Rose-alita and Rising Star, by OPI.
They're topped with 2 coats of 2010, by Nubar.

As you can see, it barely shows up over the gold polish. But, man almighty, look at it on the pink!

Until next time...

Rising Rose-alita

Hi there!

I was going to play with my Konad stamping stuff and OPI's Didgeridoo Your Nails?, but I couldn't open the dang thing for the life of me. So, instead, I did a simple look with SeƱorita Rose-alita and Rising Star, both by OPI.

OPI - SeƱorita Rose-alita, OPI - Rising Star, Seche Vite.
 And a drum roll, please...

My nails painted with OPI's SeƱorita Rose-alita and Rising Star.
They're topped with a coat of Seche Vite.

I used 2 coats of each color. It was difficult to capture in the picture, but the pink has gold shimmer. If you enlarge the picture, you'll be able to see it better - mostly in my thumb.

Sooo pretty!

Until next time...

Brass, Bronze, Copper, Gold - Swatches

Hi there!

I recently purchased a boat load of nail wheels and I felt like playing with them and my gold-ish polishes today. This post is picture heavy, so prepare yourself...

Swatches of my gold-ish polishes.

1. OPI - Rising Star
2. OPI - Legs Celebrate!
3. Revlon - Copper Penny

12. 3 Stripes - Eight
13. 3 Stripes - Six
14. 3 Stripes - Seven
15. Maybelline Express Finish - Brassy
16. Elf - Blush
17. Nicole by OPI - It Starts With Me
18. Silver Square - One
19. China Glaze - Delight

1. OPI - Rising Star, 2. OPI - Legs Celebrate!, 3. Revlon - Copper Penny,
4. Sinful Colors - All About You, 5. Elf - Copper

All of the swatches #1 - #5 are 2 coats except for #4. I used 3 coats. It's a clear-based, fine gold glitter top coat with hints of orangy-red glitter.

6. Cover Girl Nail Slicks - Bronze Ice, 7. 3 Stripes - Nine,
8. China Glaze - Platinum Gold, 9. China Glaze - Passion,
10. Nicole by OPI - The Next CEO

6. Cover Girl Nail Slicks - Bronze Ice, 7. 3 Stripes - Nine,
8. China Glaze - Platinum Gold, 9. China Glaze - Passion,
10. Nicole by OPI - The Next CEO

All of the swatches #6 - #10 are 2 coats except for #8 and #9. I only used 1 coat. They are perfect polishes to stamp with.

11. China Glaze - Swing Baby, 12. 3 Stripes - Eight, 13. 3 Stripes - Six,
14. 3 Stripes - Seven, 15. Maybelline Express Finish - Brassy

11. China Glaze - Swing Baby, 12. 3 Stripes - Eight, 13. 3 Stripes - Six,
14. 3 Stripes - Seven, 15. Maybelline Express Finish - Brassy

All of the swatches #11 - #15 are 2 coats. "3 Stripes" isn't a brand - I made those up for identification purposes. Those polishes came from makeup sets that are popular during holiday seasons. #10 and #11 have the same finish. They are very similar in color - #10 leans toward gold and #11 leans toward brown.

16. Elf - Blush, 17. Nicole by OPI - It Starts With Me,
18. Silver Square - One, 19. China Glaze - Delight

16. Elf - Blush, 17. Nicole by OPI - It Starts With Me,
18. Silver Square - One, 19. China Glaze - Delight

All of the swatches #16 - #19 are 2 coats. "Silver Square" is another identification name. #19 is another great polish for stamping. It looks more mauve as a swatch, while in the bottle it looks copper.

I hope you enjoyed this!

Until next time...

San Francisco 49ers

Hi there!

My hunny poo has been requesting rather frequently that I do a red and gold design. He's a huge 49ers fan. I kind of missed football season, but here it goes...

I used Konad image plate M64. I used China Glaze's Drive In for the base color and China Glaze's Passion to stamp the design. I topped it off with a top coat by Seche Vite.

China Glaze - Drive In, China Glaze - Passion, Seche Vite
top coat, double sided stamper, scraper, Konad plate M64.

My nails painted with China Glaze - Drive In.
Stamped with China Glaze - Passion and Konad plate M64.

I let him choose the base color, stamping color, and the image. I think he did pretty well.

Until next time...

China Glaze - Ingrid - Vintage Vixen

Hi there!

I didn't want my fingernails to be naked today, so I quickly painted them with China Glaze's Ingrid, from the Vintage Vixen collection.

The color is a muddy, cream brown with a hint of gold shimmer.

My nails painted with 2 coats of China Glaze - Ingrid.

Tomorrow afternoon, I'll paint a design with one of my Konad plates.

Until next time...
