Patriotic Week - Day 3

Hi there!

Striper tape and confetti were calling my name today...

My nails painted with Spoiled - First Class Only
and OPI - Alpine Snow. Patriotic 4th of July manicure.

I painted 2 coats of each polish to achieve what's pictured. Once the blue polish was tacky, I placed the confetti stars onto my nails. Once the white polish was dry, I diagonally applied the red striper tape. To top it off, I added a coat of Seche Vite over each nail.

Is this something you'll be trying?

Patriotic Week - Day 2

Hi there!

This is today's manicure...

My nails painted with Color Club - Boys Wear Blue, P Is For Pride,
and OPI - Alpine Snow. Patriotic 4th of July manicure.

I painted 2 coats of each polish to achieve what's pictured. Once dry, I used Konad's special white polish to stamp the star images onto my thumb. I used a star-themed image plate that I purchased off of eBay- all that's said on the plate is, "LO03." I topped everything off with a coat of Seche Vite.

How cool are these caps!? I'd like them a whole lot more if they weren't just plastic covers...

Color Club - Boys Wear Blue, P Is For Pride, and OPI - Alpine Snow.

I hope this gives you inspiration if you're looking to do a red, white, and blue manicure!

Patriotic Week - Day 1

Hi there!

I did a Patriotic Week last year and it's already time for another one! Over the next week, I will be experimenting with new ideas for the 4th of July. Here's my first idea...

Splatter manicure. My nails painted with China Glaze - Frostbite
and Red Pearl. Patriotic 4th of July manicure.

I painted a base of OPI's Alpine Snow and then splattered with Frostbite and Red Pearl. The blue and red both have a shimmer that compliment one another nicely. I topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite.

I like it :-) Will you be trying this?

Saved By The Blue Versus Frostbite

Hi there!

I figured it might be a good idea to compare these 2 polishes since I plan on using at least 1 of them for my upcoming Patriotic Week...

My nails painted with Wet n Wild - Saved By The Blue
and China Glaze - Frostbite.
Saved By The Blue is painted on my index and ring finger.
Frostbite is painted on my middle and pinky finger.

I painted 2 coats of each polish to achieve what's pictured. I think these have to be the same exact polish- just bottled differently! The formulas were the same... they applied nicely, and they both reek of road-killed skunk :-/ The only difference I noticed was the brush. Frostbite applied more smoothly because its brush was smoother. Saved By The Blue's brush was a bit coarse.

Until next time...

China Glaze - On Safari Collection

Hi there!

I've already posted some of these pictures as I've worn them, but here is the entire On Safari collection...

China Glaze - Kalahari Kiss, I Herd That, Desert Sun,
Elephant Walk, I'm Not Lion, and Call Of The Wild.
Bottom row: Jungle Queen, Man Hunt, Purr-Fect Plum,
Exotic Encounters, Prey Tell, and Adventure Red-Y.
On Safari Collection.
Kalahari Kiss:

My nails painted with China Glaze - Kalahari Kiss.
On Safari Collection.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. I love it! It's unlike any other color in my collection.

Desert Sun:

My nails painted with China Glaze - Desert Sun.
On Safari Collection.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. It was more watery than I expected, but it applied easily enough.

I Herd That:

My nails painted with China Glaze - I Herd That.
On Safari Collection.

I painted 1 coat over Desert Sun. Blurred to show the sparkle...

My nails painted with China Glaze - I Herd That.
On Safari Collection.

The formula of I Herd That is great. It has a mix of glitter that flashes orange/copper, gold/yellow, purple, and green.

Elephant Walk:

My nails painted with China Glaze - Elephant Walk.
On Safari Collection.

The formula of Elephant Walk was thicker than the rest of the polishes from this collection. I painted 2 coats, but I could have left it with 1 coat.

A close-up of the shimmer...

China Glaze - Elephant Walk.
On Safari Collection.

Man Hunt:

My nails painted with China Glaze - Man Hunt.
On Safari Collection.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. The formula on this one was thin, but it was still easy to work with.

I'm Not Lion:

My nails painted with China Glaze - I'm Not Lion.
On Safari Collection.

I painted 1 coat over Man Hunt. Blurred to show the sparkle...

My nails painted with China Glaze - I'm Not Lion.
On Safari Collection.

The formula of I'm Not Lion is just like I Herd That. It has a mix of glitter that flash a rainbow :-)

Exotic Encounters:

My nails painted with China Glaze - Exotic Encounters.
On Safari Collection.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. The formula was perfect. In some lighting, it appears as a greyed teal... while in other lighting, it looks emerald.

Adventure Red-y:

My nails painted with China Glaze - Adventure Red-y.
On Safari Collection.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. It applied nicely. The biggest thing to note about this one is it isn't as bright as it appears in the bottle. It's still pretty, though.

Purr-Fect Plum:

My nails painted with China Glaze - Purr-Fect Plum.
On Safari Collection.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. There's not a whole lot to say about it except it applied nicely :-)

Jungle Queen:

My nails painted with China Glaze - Jungle Queen.
On Safari Collection.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. It's a purple/brown/grey polish with a pinch of light purple shimmer.

Prey Tell:

My nails painted with China Glaze - Prey Tell.
On Safari Collection.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. The formula is nice, but the color isn't something I typically wear. I suppose that isn't a bad thing, though. There are a lot of bright red undertones to this polish- the picture shows some of that near my cuticles.

Call Of The Wild:

My nails painted with China Glaze - Call Of The Wild.
On Safari Collection.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured because the first coat showed a lot of red undertones and left some streaks.

Welp, that's it! Overall, I'm pleased with the On Safari collection. I had been waiting for it to release for what seemed like forrrrevvver! If I had to recommend 4 polishes, I'd choose Kalahari Kiss, Desert Sun, I Herd That, and Elephant Walk. They were plain awesome to work with, and I like the way they look :-)

Will you be purchasing any of the polish from this collection? Or have you already? Which ones?

Until next time...

Ugly Manicure Monday - 20

Hi there!

This ugly manicure comes courtesy of meeee...

Julep - Selena, Olivia, and Stella.

I painted 2 coats of Selena as a base. Once that was dry, I used the large end of one of my dotting tools to place 4 dots of Olivia onto each nail. With the smaller end of my dotting tool, I added dots of Stella in the middle of each dot of Olivia. I topped it all with a coat of Seche Vite.

This manicure isn't ugly by accident. I purposely went through my polishes and grabbed 3 colors that might not look so great on their own- and voila! I don't think it looks too bad... it's more of a pretty-ugly ;-p What do you think?

If you have an ugly manicure, I'd love to feature it! Email me with what polish you used and what you intended your manicure to look like :-)

China Glaze - Man Hunt and I'm Not Lion

Hi there!

Today I'm wearing Man Hunt...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Man Hunt.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. The formula was thin, but it still applied easily enough.

Here it is with I'm Not Lion over the top...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Man Hunt and I'm Not Lion.

I'm Not Lion is a densely packed glitter in a clear base... I only applied 1 coat to achieve what's pictured.

Blurred to show the sparkle...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Man Hunt and I'm Not Lion.

I'm not sure I love the combination of these 2 polishes :-/ I don't think they look horrible together, but I don't think the blue base does anything to compliment the glitter.

China Glaze - Call Of The Wild

Hi there!

I forgot to post this earlier... woops! Anyway, this is what I wore today...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Call Of The Wild.

The first coat showed a lot of red undertones and left some streaks, so I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured.

China Glaze - Desert Sun and I Herd That

Hi there!

Today I wore another manicure that I like more each time I look at it...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Desert Sun.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. Desert Sun had a little bit more of a watery formula than the other polishes from the On Safari collection that I've tried so far... but it still applied easily. It's the perfect pumpkin spice color that I didn't see myself liking based on the bottle. I suppose that further instills the saying, "you can't judge a book by its cover."

With I Herd That over the top...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Desert Sun and I Herd That.

I painted 1 coat of I Herd That over Desert Sun to achieve what's pictured. The formula is great. It has a mix of glitter that flashes orange/copper, gold/yellow, purple, and green.

Blurred to show the sparkle...

Is this a combination you can see yourself trying?

China Glaze - Elephant Walk

Hi there!

Today I wore Elephant Walk...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Elephant Walk.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. The formula of this one was a bit thicker than the rest of the polish from the On Safari collection that I've tried thus far. I could have gotten away with using 1 thick coat.

It has a slight shimmer...

China Glaze - Elephant Walk.

This polish reminds me of my Grandma... her favorite animal was elephants  Is there a polish that reminds you of a loved one?

Ugly Manicure Monday - 19

Hi there!

This ugly manicure comes courtesy of Kristin at The Manicured Monkey...

Feather manicure.

Kristin said a few things went sour with this one. Not only was the base of Loredana too dark, but some of the feathers were too dark to show as well. The feathers were a mess to trim, and they didn't lay flat in some areas. The feathers also ate her top coat so her manicure became goopy instead of glassy.

Thanks, Kristin!

The one thing that's kept me from trying a feather manicure thus far is the trimming aspect... although, now I suppose I should get to it! Even with a goopy finish, I still think it looks nice!

If you have an ugly manicure, I'd love to feature it! Email me with what polish you used and what you intended your manicure to look like :-)

China Glaze - Purr-Fect Plum

Hi there!

Today I'm wearing Purr-Fect Plum...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Purr-Fect Plum.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. It applied nicely... and its name is definitely suiting of its color :-)

China Glaze - Kalahari Kiss

Hi there!

The more I look at this, the more I like it...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Kalahari Kiss.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. There isn't much to say other than it applied nicely and dried as expected.

I surely don't own any other shade like this... so I'm glad I added it to my collection. What do you think?

China Glaze - Exotic Encounters

Hi there!

This is the first polish I decided to try from the On Safari collection...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Exotic Encounters.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. In some lighting, it appears as a greyed teal... while in other lighting, it can appear emerald. Either way, I like it :-)

To see all of the On Safari collection, click here.

Will you be adding Exotic Encounters to your collection?

Until next time...

China Glaze - On Safari

Hi there!

Today was a fun mail day for me...

It's the On Safari collection by China Glaze. Normally for summer, I'd be itching for bright colors... but I've been excited for this collection ever since I knew it was in the works.

Which should I wear first?

Until next time...

Spoiled - I Tripped On The Red Carpet

Hi there!

This is a red that I wore a while back, but never got around to posting...

My nails painted with Spoiled - I Tripped On The Red Carpet.

I painted 2 coats to achieve what's pictured. It's tough to tell by the photograph, but there is a slight red shimmer to this polish...

Spoiled - I Tripped On The Red Carpet.

I think this shade washes out my skin tone- but I do have plans for it this July. I'm going to do another week of Patriotic manicures :-)

Until next time...

Ugly Manicure Monday - 18

Hi there!

This ugly manicure comes courtesy of Cristina at Impoverished by Polish...

China Glaze - Lubu Heels and Kleancolor - Red Hot.

Cristina painted 2 coats of Lubu Heels and 1 coat of Red Hot to achieve what's pictured. She said she hated this manicure even before she smudged it. Instead of helping to mimic Deborah Lippmann's Ruby Red Slippers, the red tint in Red Hot muddled the whole look.

Thanks, Cristina!

I like the name of Red Hot better than I like the look of it... mostly because I'm imagining it over a primary red and it's making me crave the candy, Red Hots.

If you have an ugly manicure, I'd love to feature it! Email me with what polish you used and what you intended your manicure to look like :-)

China Glaze - Sky High Top

Hi there!

I'm a serious sucker for blue nail polish...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Sky High-Top.

I painted 2 coats of Sky High-Top to achieve what's pictured. I don't have much to say about it... it didn't let me down in application or color.

Until next time...

Lara's Harbor

Hi there!

I painted these yesterday evening before leaving to the beach...

My nails painted with Zoya - Lara and Sinful Colors - Pearl Harbor.

I painted 2 coats of Lara and 1 coat of Pearl Harbor to achieve what's pictured. About 2 hours after snapping this picture, all of the polish had peeled clean off of my nails! I'm not positive it was because the 2 polishes simply didn't mesh well together... I went swimming for a couple of hours, so I'm sure that had something (if not everything) to do with it.

At least it looked pretty for a few hours :-)

Until next time...

Orly - Rock It

Hi there!

I've had this polish for quite some time, but this is the first I've worn it...

My nails painted with Orly - Rock-It.

I painted 2 coats of Rock-It to achieve what's pictured. From afar, it looks like a mix between burgundy and dark magenta... but it has an orange-y copper duochrome that shines nice and bright in the sun!

Until next time...

Ugly Manicure Monday - 17

Hi there!

This ugly manicure comes courtesy of Liz at Nothing But Nail Polish...

Drizzle manicure.

Liz started with a base of white, and then sponged different designs with neon polish. Once that was dry, she added the drizzle design. Unfortunately, the drizzle wasn't dry before she added her top coat :-/

Drizzle manicure.
To create a drizzle, Liz put some black polish onto a scrap piece of paper. Using her dotting tool, she played with it until it got stringy... then she strung it over her nails.

Drizzle manicure.

Thanks, Liz!

I love the look of this manicure... minus the thumb, of course ;-p This is something I'll be trying soon! What do you think?

If you have an ugly manicure, I'd love to feature it! Email me with what polish you used and what you intended your manicure to look like :-)

Pink and Purple Water Marble

Hi there!

Another water marble post so soon? Yes!

My nails water marble with Julep - Renee and Eva.

I painted a base of Renee and then marbled with Renee and Eva. These 2 polishes worked quite well together.

This design reminds me of comic book captions like SPLAT, KAPLOW, and BAM! What do you think?

Until next time...

Take Wing Water Marble

Hi there!

This is a water marble I did for Kristin at The Manicured Monkey...

My nails water marbled with Color Club - Sparkle and Soar,
Wing Fling, and Sky High.

I painted a base of Sparkle and Soar, and then marbled with all 3 polishes. While I like the way this manicure turned out, I don't recommend the Take Wing collection for water marbling. The foil finish makes for a difficult time creating designs in the water.

Until next time...
