Neon Leopard

Hi there!

I decided I wanted to match my outfit today, so I added a leopard print to yesterday's manicure...

My nails painted with Orly - Glowstick and
China Glaze - Flip Flop Fantasy.
Stamped with Konad M57.

I used Konad's special black polish to stamp the print and then I topped it with a coat of Seche Vite.

Now this is what I call a fun manicure! What do you think?

Until next time...

Spring Swirls Water Marble

Hi there!

Here's a quick look at my current manicure...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Lemon Fizz and Sinful Colors - Verbena.
Spring water marble manicure.

I painted 1 coat of Lemon Fizz before marbling with both Lemon Fizz and Verbena. I topped this manicure with a coat of Seche Vite, and I'm quite pleased how it turned out. The 2 polishes worked very well together in the water!

Pacific Blue Glowstick

Hi there!

I wanted to wear one last "summer" manicure before the weather gets cold and I fall, like so many others, into wearing polish shades that mesh better with the current season...

My nails painted with Sally Hansen - Pacific Blue and
Orly - Glowstick.

I painted a base of white and then painted 1 coat of each polish to achieve what's pictured. The picture looks like the manicure is bright, but in person it's much brighter. I love it :-)

Glowstick wasn't in my collection when I did my neon yellow comparison, but I think that if it was, it'd easily be my favorite. It applied perfectly and dried glossy- just the way I like my neons.

Do you live in a part of the world where you get to experience 4 seasons? Which is your favorite?

Until next time...

Glowstick and Bubbly Bombshell

Hi there!

If this doesn't scream summer, I don't know what does...

My nails painted with Orly - Glowstick and Bubbly Bombshell.

I painted 2 coats of Glowstick as a base for this manicure. Once that was dry, I sponged Bubbly Bombshell onto my nails and then I topped it with a coat of Seche Vite. This was surprisingly quick and easy to achieve, and I'm not sure why I don't do it more often!

What are 2 polishes and/or colors you'd like to try this with?

Until next time...

Spring Splatter

Hi there!

This is a quick splatter manicure I did with Susan and Blake...

My nails painted with Julep - Susan and Blake. Splatter manicure.

I painted 2 coats of Susan before I splattered with Blake.

I don't tape my fingers off before doing splatter manicures, however, I do lay protection down on my table- whether it's a paper towel or piece of plastic. While I can aim the straw and polish at my fingernail for the most part, there is often stray polish that ends up a few inches from my hand. Another tip for splatter manicures- I cut my drinking straws into 3 parts so I get more uses out of them.

I'm loving how this turned out :-)

Melon Dots

Hi there!

I really love this manicure...

My nails painted with Sinful Colors - Neon Melon and
Nubar - Black Polka Dot.

I painted a base of white, 2 coats of Neon Melon, and 1 coat of Black Polka Dot to achieve what's pictured.

While out to sushi, the restaurant owner came from behind the counter and across the dining room to our booth. She grabbed my hands and ogled them :-) They really are that bright!

Until next time...

Neon Yellows

Hi there!

The last bunch of neons I have to share are the yellows...

Spoiled - Did I Dye It Too Blonde?, Sinful Colors - Neon Melon,
Color Club - Get Your Lem-On, and China Glaze - Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.

This cell phone picture is color accurate...

My nails painted with Spoiled - Did I Dye It Too Blonde?,
Sinful Colors - Neon Melon, Color Club - Get Your Lem-On,
and China Glaze - Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.

And this picture is from my regular camera...

My nails painted with Spoiled - Did I Dye It Too Blonde?,
Sinful Colors - Neon Melon, Color Club - Get Your Lem-On,
and China Glaze - Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.

Each nail is painted with a base of white and 2 coats of yellow.

In order from my favorite to my least favorite:

1. Sinful Colors - Neon Melon (middle finger)... This dries a smidge matte, but the color is amazing and it has a nice formula.

2. Spoiled - Did I Dye It Too Blonde? (index finger)... I like this formula better than Neon Melon, but it doesn't have *as* great of a color.

3. Color Club - Get Your Lem-On (ring finger)... This is least like the other 3. It has a green shimmer and it's scented. It also has a great formula.

4. China Glaze - Yellow Polka Dot Bikini (pinky finger)... This is number 4 because it doesn't seem as neon when compared to the other 3.

I hope this helps!

Until next time...

Spoiled - Designated Driver and Mind Your Own Beeswax

Hi there!

Here are 2 of the yellows from Spoiled...

My nails painted with Spoiled - Designated Driver and
Mind Your Own Beeswax.
Designated Driver is painted on my pointer and my ring finger.
Mind Your Own Beeswax is painted on my middle and pinky finger.

I painted 2 coats of each polish to achieve what's pictured. Designated Driver is creme and opaque, while Mind Your Own Beeswax has a yellow shimmer and shows some visible nail line.

With some Pirate's Booty...

Spoiled - Designated Driver and Pirate's Booty.

I painted 1 coat of Pirate's Booty to achieve what's pictured. Pirate's Booty is a mixture of orange hexagonal glitter and yellow/gold flakes. Some of the pieces change to green in changed light.

Do any of these strike you as a must-have?

Until next time...

Famous Sunglasses

Hi there!

Between manicures, I decided to compare the shades of these 2 polishes...

Color Club - Almost Famous and OPI - Need Sunglasses?

They look kind of similar in the bottles, but quite different on the nail...

Color Club - Almost Famous and OPI - Need Sunglasses?
Color Club is painted on my pointer and ring finger.
OPI is painted on my middle and pinky finger.

I painted 2 coats of Almost Famous and 3 coats of Need Sunglasses? Almost Famous is opaque, while Need Sunglasses? still shows some of my nail line. I like the opacity of Almost Famous, but it'll apply streakily if you aren't careful. I really like the effortless application of Need Sunglasses?, but I'm not fond of how many coats I need to get rid of the visible nail line. Ultimately, I don't think they're similar enough to recommend one over the other.

What are some yellow polishes you'd recommend?

Until next time...

Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Versus Neon Melon

Hi there!

Today was another neon day for me.

China Glaze - Yellow Polka Dot Bikini & Sinful Colors - Neon Melon.
China Glaze is painted on my pointer and ring finger.
Sinful Colors is painted on my middle and pinky finger.

These were fun to play with... they remind me of elementary school and how my friends and I would color on our fingernails with highlighters :-)

Both of these colors were subpar to work with. I like to think I have a steady hand, but that didn't help the application. The picture doesn't capture just how noticeable the streaks are... they're quite dark. I even used a white base coat- it helped with hiding my nail lines, but not the sinister streaks.

Neon Melon is a brighter and more neon yellow than Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.

I honestly don't recommend either one of these polishes for a full manicure, unless you don't mind streaks. ... They might be good for painting accents and other nail art.

Until next time...

Pastel Water Marble

Hi there!

Here's my very first attempt at water marbling!

Pastel water marble. China Glaze - Something Sweet, China Glaze -
Peachy Keen, China Glaze - Lemon Fizz, China Glaze - Re-Fresh Mint,
China Glaze - Sea Spray, China Glaze - Light As Air.

It's very spring-y and I think it worked perfectly for Easter. They'll also be my Birthday nails... TOMORROW :-D

I used...

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Whirlwind White, China Glaze - Something Sweet,
China Glaze - Peachy Keen, China Glaze - Lemon Fizz, China Glaze - Re-Fresh Mint,
China Glaze - Sea Spray, China Glaze - Light As Air, Seche Vite.

I started with 2 coats of white polish so the marble had something to pop against. I had been putting off trying a water marble for the longest time because I thought it would be too time consuming and frustrating. I'm glad I was wrong. Most of the colors I used are from the Up & Away collection... they're great pastels and they were very easy to marble with. They worked well with the water and they didn't bleed.

Until next time...

Yellowy Goodness

Hi there!

I was messing around with my file today and I decided to play with a new nail shape. Then I wanted to make my nails pop with a bright color. Yellow works...

My nails painted with China Glaze - Happy Go Lucky,
from the Up & Away collection.

I wasn't done playing, so I broke out the Konad image plates. I chose plate M70.

My nails painted with China Glaze - Happy Go Lucky,
from the Up & Away collection. Stamped with Konad plate M70.

The yellow went on quite streakily. You'll need a steady hand if you want to use this color. 1 coat would not suffice and 2 coats were iffy - so I used 3.

I really enjoy the color. So, yay for that.

Yuck for my new nail shape, though. It was fun to try, but since my nails grow inward at the tips it doesn't make sense for a square shape. Tomorrow, I'll start easing my way back into rounded tips :-)

When was the last time you tried a new nail shape?

Until next time...
