Buddy

Hey everyone.

My husband and I have been going through an extremely rough time this past week. We had to make a decision that nobody ever wants to make.

Our little boy, Buddy, is epileptic. He's suffered seizures since we first adopted him. We wouldn't dare take him back or give up on him, so we decided to give him the best life he could possibly have; one that 2 other families before us decided against.

He's been on several medications, and those worked... initially. Only recently have his seizures become more frequent. 3 times a day just isn't fair to him. One of the medications makes him dizzy, so he sometimes loses his balance. It also gives him nightmares :*(

He's kind of turned into a grumpy old man. There are moments when the puppy in him shines bright, but those moments aren't as often as he deserves. He's just under 2 years and 4 months old. It's just so hard to admit that he's not happy. We love him so much.

Our Buddy ♥

He's a ham. He loves having his picture taken. Here he is with our 4 year old puppy, Bandit...

They love each other.

Tomorrow will be our last day with him :*(

To anyone who may come across this blog post: please pray for us. And Buddy. And Bandit. Though I know she remembers loving the time when she was an only child, she's grown to love him, too. She's extremely smart. She became an alert dog for his seizures. Anytime he starts having one, she barks. She has watched my husband and I enough to see the way we hold him when he has a seizure. She learned how to keep him from banging into things by putting her front paws and her weight around him. I know she knows that something is wrong. I've been in tears all week. I don't want her to be depressed.

Please pray that Buddy isn't scared. I hope he knows how much we love him. And I really hope it's true that all dogs go to Heaven. He's a sweetheart.

I'll leave this post by saying that Buddy will always be loved and never be forgotten.

I love you, Buddy Roo. You're such a good boy ♥

China Glaze - Paper Chasing - Kicks

Hi there!

This morning while I was taking a walk, the sun decided to peek out. It really amplified the color of the grass in my neighborhood's park.

So that's what inspired today's color. I used China Glaze's Paper Chasing, from the Kicks collection. It's a bright, grassy green with a hint of neon. This color smells funky compared to my other China Glaze polishes.

My nails painted with 2 coats of China Glaze - Paper Chasing.

If you enlarge the picture, you can see the white in my nails. I'm not sure that 3 coats would make this color opaque on a natural nail, but a white base coat could solve that problem. Overall, this polish is pretty and the smell goes away once it's dry.

Until next time...

Haul-a (A Haul)

Hi there!

I'm a super sicky-poo today and I didn't exactly feel like redoing my nails. Plus, I still love the design from yesterday.

Anyway, I received a package in the mail today that I'm really excited for.

My new China Glaze polishes.

Yay!

They're all China Glaze polishes. From left to right, they are: Free Love, Red Pearl, Heli-Yum, Mom's Chiffon, For Audrey, Secret Peri-Wink-Le, and Flyin' High.

I'll try and do some swatches once I'm feeling better.

Until next time...

Pink Leopard

Hi there!

I wasn't too fond of yesterday's manicure, so I decided to jump on the "pink Wednesday" bandwagon.

I used China Glaze's Ahoy! for the base color and Konad's special black to stamp the design with Konad image plate M78. I also used Konad's top coat.

Konad special black, Konad top coat, double
sided stamper, China Glaze - Ahoy!, scraper, M78.

Here's the final result!

Stamped with Konad plate M78.

I'm kind of in love with this design. And if you look closely or enlarge the picture, you can see the pink sparkles in the polish.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I do :-)

Until next time...

San Francisco 49ers

Hi there!

My hunny poo has been requesting rather frequently that I do a red and gold design. He's a huge 49ers fan. I kind of missed football season, but here it goes...

I used Konad image plate M64. I used China Glaze's Drive In for the base color and China Glaze's Passion to stamp the design. I topped it off with a top coat by Seche Vite.

top coat, double sided stamper, scraper, Konad plate M64.

I let him choose the base color, stamping color, and the image. I think he did pretty well.

Blue (Da Ba Dee) - Swatches

Hi there!

I was in a blue mood today. Not a sad blue mood, but a color blue mood. I think the title is fitting. Do you remember that song from the late '90s by Eiffel 65?

Blue is probably one of my favorite colors to use. I have oodles of them, but I chose 10 to feature here.

From left to right: China Glaze - First Mate, China Glaze - Bermuda Breakaway,
China Glaze - Calypso Blue, NYC - Skin Tight Denim, and E.l.f. - Dark Navy.

They appear in this same order on my nails from thumb to pinky.

From thumb to pinky: China Glaze - First Mate, China Glaze - Bermuda Breakaway,
China Glaze - Calypso Blue, NYC - Skin Tight Denim, and E.l.f. - Dark Navy.

Each finger has 2 coats of polish. First Mate could have easily been left with 1 coat. Skin Tight Denim has a very subtle shimmer to it. Dark Navy looks almost black - and it dries with a much less glossy finish than the other colors.

Here are some more blues.

From left to right: L.A. Colors - Static Electricity, L.A. Colors - Wired, China Glaze -
Shower Together, China Glaze - Aqua Baby, and Sally Hansen - Blue Me Away!

Shower Together, China Glaze - Aqua Baby, and Sally Hansen - Blue Me Away!

Each finger has 2 coats of polish. Shower Together and Aqua Baby look almost exactly alike. Shower together has a smidge more green in it.

I'm satisfied. I hope this satisfied your blues.

Until next time...

Quasi-Disappointing Afternoon

Hi there!

I was in a nail polish buying mood today, so I decided to check out my nearest Sally Beauty Supply store. I had never been to one before, believe it or not. I went with 3 specific polishes in mind: China Glaze's Hyper Haute (Tronica collection), China Glaze's Black Mesh Crackle, and OPI's Black Shatter. I am also intrigued by OPI's entire Texas collection, so I would not have been disappointed to leave the store with all of those polishes.

Much to my dismay, not a single one of those polishes were there.

On the way out of the store, I heard shoes calling my name. Instead of pouting for the rest of the afternoon, I bought myself a lovely pair of shoes. Okay, I bought 5 pairs of shoes, but this is the only pair I took a picture of...

My new Dolce Vita for Target shoes.

Hopefully, these will hold me over until the e-tailers I frequent re-stock their supply of the polishes I want.

Until next time...

Black and White Carpet Balls

Hi there!

When I took the picture for my previous blog post, I became inspired by my surroundings... especially by my carpet balls.

My carpet balls.

I decided to use Konad image plate M73 and Bundle Monster image plate BM20. I used White Night, by Cover Girl to paint my entire nail. I stamped with Konad's special black polish, and I used Konad's top coat.

Konad top coat, Konad special black, double sided stamper,
Cover Girl - White Night, scraper, BM20, and plate M73.

Here's the final result!

My nails stamped with BM20 and Konad plate M73.

I hope this inspires you.

Until next time...

China Glaze - Ingrid - Vintage Vixen

Hi there!

I didn't want my fingernails to be naked today, so I quickly painted them with China Glaze's Ingrid, from the Vintage Vixen collection.

The color is a muddy, cream brown with a hint of gold shimmer.

My nails painted with 2 coats of China Glaze - Ingrid.

Tomorrow afternoon, I'll paint a design with one of my Konad plates.

Until next time...

Hello, I'm a nail polish addict!

Hi there!

So it might be quite obvious that I'm new to the blogging world. If it's not... well, hello, I'm new here :-) I have always been entranced by nail polish and all of the possibilities. Only recently have I discovered nail designs. That's mostly what inspired me to start a blog.

While organizing my nail polishes into a blog-worthy order for a photo opportunity, my polish rack toppled over and ALL of my polishes fell onto my carpet. 5 of them shattered and completely stained my carpet. They also got their bright colors and glass all over each and every one of my other bottles of polish. What a mess! My manicure was also ruined, but that kind of goes without saying.

This isn't what I had in mind for my first blog post, but hey, it'll do.

I didn't think to take a picture immediately after I spilled nail polish on my carpet. This was taken
after I scrubbed it with nail polish remover and Windex. I had also already shampooed my carpet.
I guess it's not bad for hot pink, red, purple, brown, and clear (I got lucky on that one).

This is my solution. It's in my master bathroom, so I guess I can
somewhat get away with this. Don't ask why it's carpeted. I didn't do it.

By the time this picture was taken, I had already cleaned what I could of
my most precious nail polishes. Here's a small selection of what I've yet
to clean. You can see the shards of glass on the 2 middle bottles.

Once I'm finished cleaning all of my bottles of polish, I'll get on with the good stuff.

In the meantime, I have some questions for anyone who might stumble upon this blog post:
1. Have you ever spilled polish on your carpet?
1a. How the heck did you remove it!?

Until next time...
